The purpose of the Office of Institutional Compliance is to foster a culture of compliance and accountability that is consistent with DePaul's mission. To that end, members of the DePaul community are encouraged to report suspected wrong-doing such as fraud, theft, accounting errors, or other violations of DePaul policies, or federal, state or local laws to their supervisor.
However, in cases when this does not resolve the situation or the suspected wrong-doing may involve an employee's supervisor, contact the Office of Institutional Compliance, Internal Audit or Human Resources. To the extent possible, these resources will strive to maintain confidentiality if it's requested.
Please note that disputes with supervisors, such as disagreements regarding performance evaluations or merit increases are not considered compliance issues. This type of concern should be addressed through normal DePaul channels, beginning with a conversation with your supervisor and, if that does not resolve the issue, contacting Human Resources.
Another resource available to the members of the DePaul community is the University Ombudsperson. The Ombudsperson provides a confidential, neutral and independent resource for all of DePaul's faculty and staff. The Ombudsperson is available to listen to issues or complaints, explore informal resolution of conflict, clarify university policies and procedures or help find the right person or department within the university to respond to questions.
Providing the Ombudsperson with information does not constitute official notice to the university of problems or policy violations. If you wish to put the university "on notice," that is, to make the university formally aware of a particular problem and request a response to it, the Ombudsperson can provide information on how to give notice.
